The Old Testament is rich in doctrine concerning Christ and His atonement. Symbolism, foreshadowing, and covenants made between God and man help us understand the significance and power of God’s grace and love toward each one of us. And the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has put together plenty of resources to help members acquaint themselves with the rich depth of pure truth and doctrine of Christ where one may receive pure revelation that leads to conversion.
Each week, Apologia of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will provide thoughts and commentary of the Old Testament scriptures. The hope is to provide insight and encourage personal scripture study that leads to cultivating a deep rooted and resilient faith in who one is, our divine heritage, our purpose and meaning in this life, and our divine destiny.
Our journey through the Old Testament will be an adventurous one. And the best way to get the most out of our personal scripture study:
The Holy Ghost guides us to the truth and bears witness of that truth (see John 16:13). He enlightens our minds, quickens our understandings, and touches our hearts with revelation from God, the source of all truth. The Holy Ghost purifies our hearts. He inspires in us a desire to live by truth, and He whispers to us ways to do this. Truly, “the Holy Ghost … shall teach [us] all things” (John 14:26).Come Follow Me – For Individuals and Families – Old Testament
Each of us is counseled to prayerfully read the scriptures in a way one receives personal revelation and inspiration that leads toward living a life that is governed by the influence of the Holy Spirit. And since conversion is the goal of Come Follow Me, the hope is that through our personal journey – we experience a long-term impact in our lives. An impact that helps us deepen our understanding of our Heavenly Father’s plan of happiness for each of us.
