Declaration of Belief
And he said, Lord, I believe. – John 9:38
Be not afraid, only believe – Mark 5:36
I commend these wonderful words to all who are called upon to stand up for what they believe, and to do so with confidence – Gordon B. Hinckley, Stand a Little Taller, p. 310
We should not be afraid, nor should we be ashamed of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. Many will reach the large and spacious building where they engage in mockery and ridicule of those who have come to partake of the fruit of the tree (See 1 Nephi 8:24-28). Instead, we should take courage, arise and shine forth and be a light to those who have fallen into forbidden paths. We should seek them out and bring them back to the blessedness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Our goal is to become like our Savior and to reach out with compassion, with mercy, and with kindness to those who may find themselves down trodden.
Through the atonement of Christ, we receive redemption, salvation and exaltation. We are placed onto the path of righteousness where we must cling unto the Rod of Iron. Through our trials, our faith will increase, and as we receive blessings, let us not forget to be a blessing to those who are seeking for truth, seeking for comfort, seeking to have their burdens made lighter. As we stand with a declaration of belief, we shall become a light beckoning those to come unto Christ and receive the fullness of the Gospel that has been restored in these last days. Let us not boast, therefore, in our own confidence, but boast of what our Savior and Redeemer has done for us so that we can serve our Heavenly Father in the work and the glory that brings to pass the immortality and eternal life of our fellow neighbors, family, friends and strangers.
